National Breast Screening System – Te Puna
BreastScreen Aotearoa has launched a new national breast screening system — Te Puna.
A new National BreastScreen Aotearoa system — Te Puna is now live in the BreastScreen Midland region
The new National BreastScreen Aotearoa register is supplied with participant information from a combination of sources including National Health Index (NHI). It will:
- enable more wāhine to join the free national breast screening programme by automatically identifying women who may be eligible
- let people who are enrolled know that they are due for their mammogram
- provide an online option for arranging enrolling and booking.
By reaching more people we aim to increase screening participation and save more lives and reduce the morbidity from breast cancer through early detection.
As these system changes are made in each region, invitations and booking information will be sent by letter, email or text (depending on the contact details we have for you).
The invites will include a personalised link for managing your own enrolment and booking online. A QR code that can be scanned will take you to the link if you receive a letter. If you prefer to call, our freephone number (0800 270 200) is also included.
Te Puna live in BreastScreen Midland
The roll-out of Te Puna will be phased throughout the country starting in Midland on 10 February.
This means if you are not already enrolled, you live in the BreastScreen Midland region and your health records identify you as a 45 to 69 year old female, you may be contacted by BSA.
To make sure your invitation reaches you, make sure your contact details are up to date.
You can update with your usual healthcare provider, or freephone 0800 270 200
