TE WHATU ORA SOUTH CANTERBURY TEMPORARILY RESTRICTS VISITORS

Te Whatu Ora – South Canterbury is temporarily suspending visiting at the Timaru Hospital from 2pm on 6 August 2022 due to COVID-19 exposure events.

The following exceptions apply:

  • Children’s and maternity wards: one visitor at a time with a maximum of two visitors per day between 2pm - 8pm
  • Maternity services: two support partners in the birthing suite
  • Compassionate grounds: visiting will be available on compassionate grounds, please arrange this with the ward’s Charge Nurse Manager before you come to hospital.

We are taking all the necessary steps to ensure that exposure events are contained. Patients are being closely monitored for signs and symptoms of COVID-19.

Our staff are doing an outstanding job given the continued high occupancy levels in the Timaru Hospital. We commend our staff for their effort and dedication to patients and their community.

We apologise for the inconvenience these restrictions cause for patients and their whanau. These restrictions will be reviewed and an update will be provided on Monday 8 August 2022.
